Sierra Mortgage Capital is a residential mortgage conduit specializing in acquiring ITIN and Foreign National first lien mortgage loans. Our mission is to serve our clients with their mortgage needs and to deliver those services with the highest standard of customer service, value, and trust.
Our Principals have decades of experience in mortgage banking, real estate lending, capital markets and private investment & advisory of residential whole loans specifically related to ITIN borrowers and high-net-worth foreign nationals.

ITIN Mortgage Loans
If your borrower files their US tax return under an ITIN (Individual Tax Identification Number) and can’t document their immigration status (or have an expired visa) then an ITIN mortgage may be a fit! DACA and Dreamers can also qualify for our ITIN programs.

Foreign National Loans
If your borrowers want to purchase a residence in the United States but are a citizen of another country and earn their income from outside the USA, a Foreign National mortgage may be a fit!

Team
John F. Sexton
Founder
Prior to co-founding Sierra Lending Group, LLC, Mr. Sexton was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Oasis Bank, SSB. Oasis was a startup state savings bank (later sold to Spirit Bank of Texas) created to provide a full line of banking and financial products and services to high net worth, predominantly Latino customers throughout Texas. Prior to Oasis, Mr. Sexton was Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Empire Mortgage Corporation (est. 1999) and Oasis Insurance Services, Inc (est. 2002) – financial services companies serving the Latino community (both sold to Oasis Bank). Mr. Sexton has over 25 years of experience in banking including originations, investment sales, loan sales, debt placement, equity, structured finance and loan servicing. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
Charles T. Ferdin
Founder
Prior to co-founding Sierra, Mr. Ferdin was Chief Operating Officer / Executive Vice President of Oasis Bank, SSB where he was responsible for directing all operational activities of this Houston, Texas based financial institution. Mr. Ferdin was instrumental in developing and implementing Oasis’ business strategy and was heavily involved in the day to day loan underwriting and approval process. Before joining Oasis, Mr. Ferdin was the Regional Operations Manager responsible for operations for The Laredo National Bank. Prior to this, he was a senior executive for several community banks where he also served as Secretary to the Board of Directors, Advisory Director, and various internal committees including Loan Review and Compliance.
Craig Haack
Founder
Mr. Haack is the founder and Managing Member of Ascendant Capital, LLC based out of Colorado. Ascendant Capital was founded in 2011 and is a private investment and advisory company that acquires and manages mortgage related investments. Prior to Ascendant Capital, Mr. Haack was SVP of Whole Loan Sales and Trading at Steel Mountain Capital from 2010-2011 where he was responsible for creating the whole loan scratch and dent trading strategy as well as train members on the trading desk. Prior to Steel Mountain Capital, Mr. Haack was VP of Whole Loan Sales and Trading from 2009-2010 at Interactive Mortgage Advisors and was responsible for building out the whole loan trading desk and strategy. Prior to IMA, Mr. Haack was a co-founder and Managing Partner at Strategic Acquisitions Group from 2007-2009. SAG was a private investment and advisory company that acquired and sold over $30 million of REO properties to Hedge Funds in the Denver, Colorado area. Prior to SAG, Mr. Haack was at HP Financial Corp from 2004-2006 where he was promoted from VP of Operations to Chief Operating Officer. HP Financial Corp was a small correspondent lender that specialized in Alt-A and Subprime residential loans. Mr. Haack’s mortgage company Core One Mortgage merged with HP Financial Corp in 2004.
